News (archived: 2004)
06/02/2005: HAPPY NEW YEAR! Sorry I haven't updated the site for so long, my Windows install died and I went away and sort of just 'left it be'. However the site will be updated often now - What to expect? A colour change, for one thing, and im going to try to keep the site a little more professional looking.
14/12/2004: Added new program for WinMX fans/users called File Trimmer. Enjoy.
10/12/2004: Not exactly sure what day I did this but LFI.net now features Google Ads in the top left corner. If my site gets enough hits and those ads get enough clicks, who knows what I'll release :).
07/12/2004: Nearly Christmas.. I added some MP3s under Misc -> Rare MP3z, there good quality :). These are just for people planning to buy CDs or want a taste of Aussie Music (they're not all Aussie Bands). Also today I added Google Ads to my page today to hopefully make me a little cash, so if you see something your interested in, please follow that interest. Winnap b16 (hopefully to be mainstreamed into a new program, Winnap 2) can now pretty much upload with no hitches ;). Just working on a few things to stop queues being jammed full..Probably won't be many updates to Winnap or site before Christmas, so Merry Christmas everyone!
07/12/2004: Template It update: Source code for Build 3 released, as well with Final EXE file.
07/11/2004: ~ Removed ~
07/11/2004: Slimnap v0.31-DEV is nearly complete. New forums! setup here
07/11/2004: Discovered error on Links page.. Link to levymetalz site is broken, will update ASAP. Been putting a few albums up on some BitTorrent trackers :). Did a minor update to Winnap a few hours ago, just adding a DNS field to search results (Mod +). I deleted ramblings from the Mike! section. I only just managed to get site uploaded yesterday, even though I can clearly remember updating it two days before.. Weird.
03/11/2004: I've been working on a really old project called Reverse Suite [used for trading Southpark Episodes], I looked at it on the long weekend and thought if I make it only do 1 download at a time it won't be too hard. I got a chance to work on it now because my broadband has been offline for a few hours now (Don't know why though). So far what I'm planning on doing is:
                         - Changing tracker to store file list in an array, not a collection (atleast 25x faster)
                         - Making sharer feed data to a buffer and process it later
                         - Finishing code for RS Downloader so it downloads properly
22/10/2004: Slimnaps still going very well :). I got broadband connected and setup a small server. Goto the Misc section for more information. Or click here.
04/10/2004: Well no updates for a long time, Slimnap is a bit of a flaw at the moment, moving too far too fast. I put up a section called Mike, changed the font size for the main navigation on all pages (but ofcourse *pats Template It*). Site is cleaner now, also fixed up any old mistakes on pages I rushed to get online.
15/09/2004: Added "School Work" section for my Pizza and Pasta assignments (Pizza assignment for Yr 9 general science, so that I could show the teacher [Is a flash animation] and Pasta assignment is for Home Economics, and I put it here because it took a while to do.]
06/07/2004: Updated site to include Path Ravager. Navigation of programs is now smaller so it fits better. At the moment im working on a napster server called Slimnap. The BETAs are running great - we've held 800 users (we could hold much more but we needed to try a new BETA) and about 220 thousand files, stabily. I also wrote a 'Vice City Jukebox'. It uses Winamp playlists and feeds MP3s into the Vice City\MP3 folder for more custom/random playback. The build is only BETA and I plan to extend it to be more random - I'll make it change the MP3s after 3 minutes of no file access. The program is under the Programs section too now. Also, the 'Winnap Autoupdate/Download page' (which is an ASP script) reports that it has had '123 unique hits'. Nice ;).. Even if only HALF are unique, thats ALOT of Winnapers.
23/08/2004: Under the Tutorials and Guides section, we now have a DVD Ripping Guide, using AutoGK. I also added a guide to fixing a fairly wide-spread Vice City crash bug. However the guide and research isn't complete - BUT, to my knowledge, it is the ONLY fix offered (that worked).
03/08/2004: BETA version of Template It that is used for LFI.net (Build 3 BETA) now has the $comptimems$ dynamic variable to show the compile time for each page individually. It took 187 milliseconds for the template this page uses to be feed its dynamic variables. Template access and script parsing time p.p. (per page) is not included in this value.
02/08/2004: Patched ABC123 Build 3 - the patch is MAJOR, unpatched versions will ONLY work on machines running a service on port 8888 - and still then the Net Checking procedure will return fraudulant results because you can always access loopback. The updated build is available under Programs -> ABC123. Source code is also updated. Sorry for any inconvenience.
27/07/2004: Website updated, the majority of my finished programs are now on the site, including the source code to many of them. I also added my written piece on the UDP protocol, and put the link to Triple M's Kurt Kobain Tribute in the Miscellaneous section. The footer of the site now also contains a counter, which was set to 400 because on my domains 'Webtrends' report there were 407 unique hits, although the report was only of recent logs. It just looked poor have "1" as the hit count ;). I will probably reset it in a few days to the hitcount it currently has minus 400.
24/07/2004: Made a major change to the way Template It works. It used to work that each file in the Templates folder would be copied to the output folder and have the appropriate content filled in. However, this meant that variations that were not planned for the HTML side of things were extremely hard to change, site wide. So, I made a version which uses a "standardized" template system and implemented a site compilation scripting system. So all you do is write a script, consisting of 'MakeFile NewFileName.htm Template "$content$ = $newfilecontent$" "$nav$ = $mainnav$"'. This system is alot better, yet a tad slower (2x as much hard drive access), however much better. The site should be updated ALOT now.
